Fun Nicaraguan Marketing Dilemma...

So I'm talking to Sergio, my Nicaraguan luthier friend. He says, "I have my hands but you know about selling things so maybe you can help me. On my basic model it has painted black binding but I do not like to say painted binding because then people think it is bad or ugly, even though it looks very nice. How can I say painted binding another way so it sounds better?"

I gave him an answer and had fun thinking about it. I figured some of you marketing minded builders might enjoy trying to figure out the best euphemism for painted binding...I'd love to hear your ideas.

I'll post my best effort later.

"Acrylic Micro-Veneer Bindings", or AMVB's as they are know to the industry, are far less likely to affect the original bond that is achieved between the top plate, back plate, and sides of the instrument.

Whilst AMVB's will do a superb job of protecting end-grain and excluding the entry of moisture that would normal result when ever there is an increases in atmospheric humidity, their use will in no way affect the structural integrity of the soundboard or side material used in the construction of the instrument.

Ah, but once again I state the obvious, because we all knew that already did'nt we???

Oh, I forgot to mention folks.

The AMVB's come in a huge range of colours and are an extremely light weight alternative to the much heavier traditional binding materials, as such they are particularly well suited to the flamenco style instruments.

For those wishing more info on AMVB's, I have attached an image of the complete kits that I now supply for just $24.95.

Displayed here we have the hue "wiggel'in watermelon" And it comes with two special applicator at no extra cost.

Great stuff, guys. My best was "ebonized trim". Simple, to the point, not all that misleading...but sounds better than "sharpie'd up".
